Please note that this role will be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination as a condition of employment.The Sr Accountant is responsible for providing and overseeing Rental Finance and Accounting services to ensure timely, accurate and complete financial statements are provided to clients in accordance with the terms of the client services agreement. Responsible for providing financial information and recommendations to Executive Directors, ROMs/DOMs and senior management that is relevant to the operation of Community Accounting clients. Responsible for maintaining the integrity of the accounting systems and practices used by Rental Finance and Accounting personnel.   • Monthly preparation and review of timely and accurate financial statements for an assigned portfolio of communities
  • Performs monthly closing functions for subsidiary systems, prepares and posts journal entries into general ledger system, reconciles accounts to general ledger, analyzes and reviews financial statements, and prepares schedules and work papers as needed by the community.
  • Reviews and approves team members reconciliations
  • Filings and tax payments to regulatory agencies.
  • Manages cash for the community, including monitoring receivable and payable activity
  • Assists in coordinating ongoing training and new employee orientation for internal staff members and business office managers at communities.
  • Assist communities' owners with year-end preparation of schedules and other audit requests.
  • Prepare cash draw packages and work with Development staff to monitor and track project expenditures and cash for communities under development.
  • Participate in system set for startups/conversions and assist communities as needed during the process.
  • Oversee the capitalization of assets for development communities and complete purchase accounting for newly acquired equity communities.
  • Contributes as an active member to the Community Finance team
  • Performs as a department team member by assisting co-workers with overloads as time permits, training new co-workers, and contributing to team projects
  • Assists with policy and procedure and best practice documentation
  • Trains LCS and community employees on financial systems and other financial topics
  • Assists with the design, development, and roll-out of new or enhanced financial systems including updates to instructions, enhancements to models and testing changes
  • Updates and/or creates Community Finance models and reporting tools
  • Presents at conferences and trainings
  • Completes special projects, as requested or assignedExperience:
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent years of experience
    • 3 - 5 years of experience in accounting-based roleKnowledge and Skills:
      • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail.
      • Effective verbal and written communication skills
      • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
      • Proficient in Excel, Word and accounting systems
      • Customer service oriented
      • Able to work independently
