Overview: Our client, a prominent Not for Profit in upper Manhattan is seeking a Chief Financial Officer ("CFO") to join their team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of connection between the finance department, and other departments within the organization, as well as the outside world (on fiscal matters). S/he works with the Senior Management and Board in developing and managing plans to enable the organization to protect and grow its assets in order to fulfill its mission. The CFO oversees the finance team's efforts (currently 17 persons), providing oversight to the financial operations. - LI-SF1 Essential Duties: Maintain strong internal controls. Comply with funding and regulatory reporting requirements. Achieve timely, clean audits and tax returns for all of the corporate entities. Seek the continuous improvement of the financial reporting systems so that leadership has timely and accurate financial information they need to make decisions. Collaboratively create an attainable annual operating budget that maximizes resources and increases the Bridge's net assets. Coordinate periodic re-projections during the fiscal year. Enable the Bridge to meet or exceed its budgetary goals through effective fiscal management. Maximize revenue, improve collections, and minimize disallowances. Maximize the use of available resources, and minimize waste of those resources. Train and upgrade the financial team; periodically making changes to improve efficiency, timeliness and to maximizing each person's capacity. Improve the proactivity and communication of the fiscal department. Advising the CEO and senior management on financial matters affecting the Bridge. Working with the SVP of Housing Development to grow the Bridge's housing portfolio. Working with the Senior Management to develop budgets for new programmatic initiatives/ enhancements. Working with program leadership and the billing team to analyze progress/ problems with FFS billing and make necessary adjustments. Working with the CEO to keep the finance committee and the Board apprised of the financial position of the organization. Qualifications: Strong communication skills. Strong management and supervisory skills. Must be an effective leader and delegator. Extensive experience in managing financial operations of a mid-sized non-profit organization Extensive technical knowledge of non-profit accounting standards. Extensive experience in working with multiple and diverse government funding agencies including OMH, OASAS, DOHMH, DHS, HPD, etc. Knowledge of Medicaid/ Managed Care/ Fee For Service Billing. Expertise/ adaptability in utilizing various software applications in accounting, fee for service billing and housing management. Experience in housing development utilizing low income housing tax credits.
