Refunds is seeking a result-driven Controller to oversee our
accounting team in Des Moines, IA. As a strategic leader, you will
be responsible in directing our organization's internal accounting
control. You will be involved in developing and enhancing various
processes, including financial system of record, workflow
procedures, reporting capabilities. You will serve as a key
stakeholder in cross departmental collaboration developing
reporting and insights that drive the business forward. We are
looking for a candidate that has extensive experience and
leadership skill that is comfortable in rolling up their sleeves to
take it to the next level!What you'll doOversee all accounting and
financial reporting functions, including closing, reporting,
compliance, and taxes.Implement internal controls and guidelines
for accounting transactions and support of budget practice and
preparation.Manage the production of periodic financial reports.
Ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted
accounting principles or financial reporting standards.Responsible
for tax planning throughout the fiscal year. Supports annual
corporate tax return and other tax reporting requirements (example:
1099, Sales & Use Tax etc.)Lead internal audit and oversee audits
of accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal
regulations. Coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed
information for the annual external audit.Presents recommendations
to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and
policies.Provides financial analysis with an emphasis cost control
and budgetary guidelines.Review journal entries, analysis and
account reconciliations and assisting with monthly close
processes.Lead ERP enhancements including integrations and
automation tools. Provide oversight and control over roles and
delegation of responsibility within ERP and accounting systems.Lead
ERP system reporting; developing some reports internally while
interacting with external advisors for second tier
reporting.Monitor system testing with focus of new business
processes, system integrations, data flow and validation.Manage
special projects with focus on efficiency and accuracy of
transactional activity and reporting requirements.Maintain
knowledge and compliance with local, state, and federal government
requirements.Other duties assigned.What we're looking forBachelor's
degree in Accounting or Finance7+ years of accounting/finance
experience5+ years of management/ leadership experienceCPA Firm or
Big 4 experience is highly desiredA proficient understanding of
Sage Intact and ERP system is a plusExperience with VLOOKUP's and
pivot tables preferredStrong communicator- Proficient with the
latest technology and can quickly learn and manage multiple
software systemsHighly organized, detail-oriented dispositionDesire
to work with growing businessesStrong written and oral
