JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY - Major goals and objectives.

The SVP/Chief Communications Officer will be responsible for defining and developing an integrated Communications strategy, and a plan and platforms to articulate the Company s mission, vision, strategy, and culture to a wide spectrum of stakeholders, including employees, Board of Directors, investors, media outlets and other external constituents. Leads a team of Communication professionals that support the business in the areas outlined below.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

ACCOUNTABILITIES, ACTIONS AND EXPECTED MEASURABLE RESULTS

30% - External PR/Communications Develop and maintain relationships with a broad spectrum of external stakeholders, including journalists and institutional investors. Serve as key spokesperson and media contact for the organization with business and financial press. Anticipate reputational risks and develop appropriate communications solutions and crisis management plans. Create a consistent voice/messaging for Meredith. Identify and secure speaking engagements for key personnel and assist in the preparation of speeches for senior executives.

30% - Internal/Employee Communications work with the President & CEO, senior leadership and HR to develop and manage internal communications strategies, programs and processes that will provide a high level of employee communication and education, foster employee engagement and drive a positive corporate culture. Coordinate annual All Employee meetings including scheduling, recommending meeting content and preparing presentation materials.

10% - Board of Directors work closely with the President & CEO and other senior leadership to plan and prepare Board meeting agendas and materials. Coordinate all Board Meeting logistics, including travel, meals and events. Produce periodic Board update letters and other Board communications.

10% - Strategic Planning In conjunction with the Chief Strategy Officer, coordinate monthly Long-Range Strategic Planning (LRSP) meetings, and annual Strategic Planning process, including establishing the strategic planning calendar, producing strategic planning materials, and attending all meetings.

10% - Community/Government/Customer liaison responsible for all Community Relations activities, including the Business Contributions budget. Manage Government Relations and the Meredith PAC. Oversee the coordination of customer visit and product preview programs.

5% - Corporate Social Responsibility/ESG With the President & CEO, determine Meredith s short and long-term ESG philosophy and strategy, and provide high-level coordination of ESG activities, working closely with functional leaders who have day to day responsibility for areas that fall under ESG. Produce and communicate the annual ESG report.

5% - Intranet and social media presence Develop, maintain and evolve Meredith s Corporate Intranet and Social Media strategies and presence across all platforms.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS - All must be met to be considered.

Education:

College degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience preferred. Master s degree in related field desirable.

Experience:

Minimum 10+ years direct experience building, leading and managing communications team and strategies preferred. Previous experience working in the media industry helpful, preferably in a corporate environment.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

* Ability to develop plans and programs to address complex corporate issues in an evolving media landscape.

* Multidimensional strategist and advisor who can collaborate with leaders and other stakeholders to develop, integrate and align Communication strategies across Meredith.

* Ability to manage multiple, high level and visible projects and a team of Communications professionals.

* Proven delivery of clear and concise communication strategies and campaigns that have exceeded anticipated results.

* Demonstrated track record of building strong customer relationships.

* Ability to successfully collaborate and drive results.

* Strategic, innovative thinker with strong communication and presentation skills.

* Proactive, passionate, flexible and high-energy collaborator with strong multitasking abilities.

* Excellent judgment with the ability to analyze, critique and offer recommendations for improvement.

* Above-reproach honesty, integrity and ethics practices.
