PURPOSE OF POSITION:The Director of Advancement will be responsible for developing and implementing the fundraising strategies for Anawim Housing. The Director will be responsible for achieving the fundraising goals while building a fundraising program to engage volunteer leadership in the fundraising strategies of Anawim Housing. As part of this plan, the Director will develop strategies involving volunteer leadership that will assist in engaging donors and prospects while building relationships and achieving monetary goals. The Director's abilities should be able to leverage key relationships and contacts within the community.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Lead and manage the overall fundraising efforts to raise philanthropic dollars to meet the organization's annual giving goals.
• Collaborate with marketing staff to create marketing materials and increase fundraising and the awareness of Anawim Housing's mission in the community.
• Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate, foundation and individual donors.
• Stay apprised of possible grants within the defined mission scope that Anawim should consider applying for.
• Stay apprised of grants being written on behalf of Anawim that will benefit fundraising goals. Act as the leader and collaborator on behalf of Anawim that bridges relationships with potential and current grant funders.
• Develop and grow the donor base; manage the monetary goals of annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts utilizing a volunteer committee that includes peer to peer relationship building.
• Develop a plan to utilize volunteer leadership for fundraising. Strategize and implement methods of approach to donors and prospects.
• Engage members of the Board and regularly apprises the entire board on opportunities to fundraise and share overall results.
• Develop a plan for a specified number of Anawim's top donors to build relationships and increase donations. The plan will leverage staff leaders of the organization and volunteer leaders. Coordinate specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, and attending in-person visits when appropriate.
• Track progress of pending Bequest gifts.
• Manage the implementation of Donor Perfect and collaborate with staff engaged in data entry, gift processing and a timely and personalized acknowledgement process.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record and valid car insurance required
  • Previous fund development experience in a non-profit setting
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate the development functions
  • Prefer experience with low income & diverse populations including those who have experienced trauma.
  • Ability to be visible in the community on behalf of Anawim HousingKNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
    • 5-10 years of nonprofit experience in fundraising. Candidates should have an understanding and experience working with volunteers and lead staff in tandem to build fundraising programs. Demonstrate the ability to implement best practices in fundraising.
    • Proven track record of achieving fundraising goals.
    • Proven management and leadership capabilities.
    • Experience working with Senior Level executives of all kinds and volunteers with high profiles in our community.
    • Desired skills include: High energy, positive, "can-do" attitude, flexibility, teamwork driven, and attention to detail; high degree of independent initiative and proven organizational skills.
    • Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly and persuasively.
    • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and a thorough understanding of strategic development to meet goals and objectives.
    • Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new donors.
    • Strategic and collaborative communication with internal customers as they relate to special events Anawim hosts that involve fundraising and building philanthropic gifts to Anawim.
    • Thorough understanding of all components of Anawim's diversified funding base.
    • Strong computer skills and knowledge of fundraising database programs.Job Type: Full-time
