We have a client in Iowa who is in need of either and IM or FP hospitalist physician(s) to provided long-term weekend locum coverage. The weekend would consist of Friday at 7p - Monday 7am, or Saturday 7a - Monday 7a.

Responsibilities include rounding on current and new inpatients, responding as needed to the ER for trauma, heart attack and other indicated conditions, and taking call for inpatients during the assigned period. Response time for onsite reporting is expected to be 5-10 minutes. The provider is not required to be onsite throughout the entire period.

This is a critical assess hospital in Southeast Iowa. Average daily census is 6 with 2.5 acute patients, 1 obs patient, and 2 skilled patients. It is common to fluctuate between 6 and 8 pts per day with the 1-2 admits per day on the average. As a critical access hospital the acuity level is significantly less than a larger hospital though they still require a skill set capable of handling a wide range of patient diagnoses and backup for the ER.

Average 8 patients per day in ER. Staffing of the ER consists mainly of PAs and ARNPs, thus the occasional need for physician backup.

Assignments to begin early to mid-December but will consider early January 2016.
