Job Description:
Job Description This position works with our OB Care Team and
typically works 20 hours per week: Thursday 8 AM - 8 PM and Friday
8 AM - 5 PM. Schedule is not guaranteed and may change based on
clinic needs. **This position is eligible for a $2,000 sign-on
bonus. See details in the Compensation & Benefits section of this
posting.**Job SummaryThe Medical Assistant supports the delivery of
healthcare for the OB Care Team by providing clinical care and
administrative support as delegated by licensed clinical staff.
Works in accordance with standards and scope established by PHC
policies and procedures. Performs work with special consideration
for patient safety and infection control policies and procedures.
Works collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to welcome
patients to a safe and inclusive environment and to engage patients
in holistic care. Essential Functions
- Documents patient care accurately and timely in the electronic
health record. (Clinical documentation)
- Facilitates the patient rooming and intake process and obtains
accurate patient vital signs per established workflow. (Patient
rooming, intake, and vital signs)
- Performs point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines and other
established workflows. Ensures service orders are completed timely.

- Administers medications, immunizations, and treatments per
written or standing orders. (Medication administration)
- Performs lab and diagnostic testing per written orders,
explains testing procedure and preparation, and reports test
results per procedure. Ensures test orders are completed timely.

- Completes timely prior authorizations and referrals per
established guidelines. (Prior authorizations and referral
management)
- Answers and returns phone calls timely.
- Prepares for exam/procedure and assists provider as
requested.
- Provides patient education appropriate to the patient's age and
identified learning needs.
- Collaborates with assigned Care Team by participating in team
huddles and pre-visit planning for scheduled patients.
- Completes and accurately documents quality controls per
established process.
- Performs pre-cleaning and transport of contaminated instruments
per infection control policies and procedures.
- Routinely evaluates supply levels in exam rooms, removing
expired supplies and restocking as appropriate. Minimum
QualificationsEducation: Completion of an accredited Medical
Assistant programExperience: None
requiredLicense/Certifications:
- Current Medical Assistant Certification or Registration issued
by AAMA, AMT, NCCT or NHA
- Current Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers
Certification*
- Current Mandatory Reporter Certification approved for the State
of Iowa**Must be obtained within Introductory Period if not
current.Knowledge, Skills or Abilities:

on education and experience.PHC offers a comprehensive benefits

- $2,000 sign-on bonus ($1000 at hire, $500 at 6 months, $500 at
1 year). Internal candidates are not eligible for sign-on
bonus.
