*Overview*

centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and
two specialty hospitals - MercyOne Children's Hospital in Des
Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds

*Responsibilities*
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:*
* Perform nursing care to patients by following established
standards and procedures.
* Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions,
administers prescribed medications, and monitor and document
treatment progress and patient response.
* Refer to/consult with physicians, other health providers, and
community resources to prevent/resolve problems or concerns.
* Review chart for medication refills, referrals and other patient
care needs as they arise
* Document patient assessment and intervention data using
established medical record forms/automated systems and
documentation practices.
* Obtain and record vital signs including but not limited to, blood
pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, height, weight, drug
allergies, and current medications and presenting problem.
* Review chart for medication refills, referrals and other patient
care needs as they arise
* Triages patients and phone calls during business hours; and
problem solves with staff, physicians, patients, families, and
ancillary departments as appropriate.
* Communicate with patient regarding test results and plan of care
by phone or mail as directed by physician.
*Qualifications*
*MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:*
* Possession of a current or compact state license as a Registered
Nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa.
* Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter -Dependent Adult Abuse
training within three (3) months of hire.
* Basic Life Support certified within six (6) weeks of hire.
Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American
Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and American Heart
Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
