Description: Description of Position: Provide a snapshot or the

Emergency Department and Ambulance Department, contributes
professional knowledge and skills in the provision and management
of emergency care to patients and their families. Maintains a

Functions/Responsibilities: Essential functions are the duties and

Excellence/patient care Assists nursing with delivers high quality
care while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills in
accordance with established policies, procedures and standards of
care while in the Emergency Department. Provide high quality care
while demonstrating knowledge and clinical skills with established
protocols while in the ambulance setting. Triage patients
presenting to the Emergency Department and/or with EMS services
Utilizes an age appropriate, holistic approach for the patients and
families seeking emergency services. Assist/float to other areas to
assist with clinical and non-clinical functions as needed and/or as
assigned 80 % Clinical Excellence/quality Accurately and promptly
restock ambulance and patient rooms after every call Promptly
completes documentation to assure an accurate legal document,
including medication administration in both the ambulance and ED
setting. 10% Basic Clarke County Hospital (CCH) Performance
Criteria Demonstrates Clarke County Hospital Standards of Behaviors
as well as adheres to hospital policies, procedures, and safety
guidelines. Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of
department with regular, reliable attendance. Employee maintains
current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DIA, DNV, OSHA, EMTALA,
IDPH and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding
healthcare. Completes all annual education and competency
requirements within the calendar year. Is knowledgeable of hospital
and department compliance requirements for federally funded
healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud,
waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding
compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative
staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department

QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Requirements Identify items that are
minimally required to perform the essential functions of this
position. Preferred or Specialized Not required to perform the
essential functions of the position. Education: Graduate from an
accredited school of EMS. Current paramedic certification required
Experience: 1 year of EMS experience preferred.
License(s)/Certification(s): Certification in good standing from
the Iowa Department of Public Health, EMS bureau. BLS certification
within 6 months of hire. ACLS and PALS certification within 1 year
of employment. Valid driver s license. EVOC or equivalent within 1
year of employment Mandatory Reporting within 6 months of hire.
ACLS and PALS recertification preferred. EVOC preferred
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Use of customary equipment used to
perform basic functions of the position, including monitors,
telehealth equipment etc. Adaptability with influx or outflow of
patients, being able to triage patients according to level of
injury, illness with the most critical patient taking precedence
when multiple Must be able to read, write and comprehend and speak
