SUMMARY
Iowa Ortho is expanding their telephonic nursing team! We are
looking for new clinical telephonic nurse coordinator to support
our clinic providers with patient care needs. If you are a
self-motivated, organized, and compassionate RN who thrives in a
fast-paced progressive work environment, this is the career for
you! Our Clinical Telephonic Nurse Coordinators provide essential
support to our providers and their patients. The Clinical
Telephonic Nurse Coordinator provides telephonic nursing support
for the clinic physicians. This person is responsible for assisting
physicians and other healthcare providers with timely patient
communications and patients with timely responses to questions or
concerns. This job is not for everyone, and requires a special
person to truly understand the importance of the work. This
position is work from home eligible after successfully completing
the training period operating out of the Des Moines location
meeting productivity goals and adhering to our attendance policy.
Work hours are full time, Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm.
Once remote eligible, you will rotate between working from home and
in office.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Functions with autonomy in clinical nursing practice within the
guidelines established by the Iowa Board of Nursing and Iowa
Ortho.
* Recognizes potentially dangerous symptoms of patients that
require immediate referral to the physician.
* At the direction of the physician, provides patient notification
and education regarding results of various tests and documents
actions in the electronic medical record. Works collaboratively
with physicians and other members of the healthcare team to process
information in an accurate, timely and consistent manner.
* Receives and processes medication refill requests following
established policies and protocols, handles requests in an
accurate, timely and thorough manner. Exercises good judgment in
the identification of potential problems such as medication side
effects, adverse interactions, non-compliance with the medical plan
of care and repeated failure to keep scheduled appointments.
Completes order forms/correspondence as needed.
* Responsible for handling a high volume incoming and outgoing
calls. Including calls to and from physicians, patients, patient's
family members, pharmacies, and various other health related
agents.
* Accurately documents communication and information or forwards
calls and/or messages to appropriate person(s). Completes all
documentation and medical records accurately and concisely.
* Acts in a professional manner, reflecting the mission of Iowa
Ortho and compliant with policies, procedures, regulatory agencies
and professional requirements.
* Listens to patient concerns and symptoms and uses nursing
knowledge to schedule acute or emergent appointments for patients
that need to be seen based on information provided.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
* Demonstrates clear and effective communication skills.
* Demonstrates basic computer skills and accurate data entry;
ability to develop skills on the Next Gen system
* Ability to provide superior customer service and perform as an
effective team member.
* Ability to apply nursing and administrative to carry out
instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
* Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete
variables in standardized situations.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
* Current R.N. license (orthopedic or previous nursing experience
not required but preferred)
* Two years of previous experience in customer service or phone
position
* Current CPR certification
