Preferred Experience: Board Certification strongly preferred. 3-5 years experience in a health care leadership position, preferably at a multi-site, interdisciplinary facility MBA, MHA, or related degree preferred. Physical Requirements: The work is primary sedentary and is performed in a health care setting for treating patients with a variety of medical problems. Normal safety precautions and practices are required for working in a healthcare environment. Other physical demands including reaching, bending, stretching, walking, and carrying light loads of supplies. The position often entails long periods of sitting at a computer, high stress situations, and the ability to adapt priorities and work plans quickly and frequently in support of medical center needs. ["The Chief of staff develops and maintains currently accepted management practices throughout the clinical services of the VASTLHCS. The Chief of Staff develops and presents the budgetary requirements of the clinical services and assists in the formulation of the annual facility budget. The Chief of Staff is fully responsible to the Medical Center Director for programs of patient care and for the education and research activities of the clinical services. Formulate and recommend plans for a comprehensive program of medical care. Develop the requirements of staff, facilities, equipment, and supplies needed to support an integrated medical program, utilizing necessary reviews and controls. Assume responsibility for carrying out the goals, objectives, plans and policies established by the Medical Center Director and VA Heartland Network. Provide leadership and accountability for all Medical Staff operations, assuring support of the mission and values of the VASTLHCS. Work collaboratively with the facility Designated Learning Officer (DLO) to expand and/or enhance Graduate Medical Education and Allied Health Training programs offered at VASTLHCS. Utilize data about target population and available resources, formulate strategic short term and long range plans and goals for the Medical Staff. Formulate and execute an annual budget for all clinical operations. Complete performance evaluations of subordinate clinical managers and administrative staff.
