Overview Supervises the daily operations of the Cardiac Cath Lab utilizing quality, cost effective patient care principles. Assures staffing is adequate for coverage in the cardiac cath lab. Supervises supports and develops unit staff. Assures supplies are available for performing procedures, develops and procures supplies for new procedures introduced to the cath lab. Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area). Patient Care performed by the areas of responsibility contributes directly toward achieving the mission of CIHS, which is To Improve the Health of Our Communities by Healing, Caring, and Teaching. Responsibilities* Supervises daily operations of patient care. Contributes to the maintenance of high quality, cost effective services consistent with the needs of the users and the hospital's budgetary guidelines. (C)* Provides clinical leadership by directing, coordinating and delegating in an organized manner, allowing for flexibility. Creates an environment that promotes staff empowerment (C)* Acts as an interdepartmental liaison promoting effective multidisciplinary team work. Collaborates with physicians and other health care team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. (C)* Participates in patient care pertinent to each clinical specialty. (C)* Responsible to maintain current professional expertise. Promotes personal and professional growth among co-workers. (C)* Develops policy/procedures and guidelines for safe, efficient operation of the department. (O)* Assumes fiscal responsibility for personnel, supplies and equipment .Assists in developing annual budgets. Authorizes expenditures according to the signature authorization policy and monitors performance; takes corrective action when appropriate to maintain control of financial resources. (C)* Interviews, hires, orients, trains, schedules, evaluates, counsels, and terminates staff with appropriate input. Demonstrates the ability to fairly and consistently interpret, apply and follow personnel policies/procedures. (C)* Represents Iowa Health System in a professional manner. Promotes positive interpersonal relations and serves as a role model within the department and with hospital personnel. (C)* Displays creativity and innovation when making recommendations for improvement in the delivery of services to the hospital. (C)* Demonstrates the ability to be fair and impartial while maintaining a professional relationship. (C)* Consistently utilizes a holistic approach (considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area). (C) Qualifications EDUCATION:* Bachelor's degree. Master's degree recommended.* Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend fluent English. EXPERIENCE:* Three years experience in field related to critical care nursing specialty area. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:* Current license/certification in related specialty area.
