The role will involve applying technical expertise to support disaster recovery playbook orchestration, failover, automation, application to infrastructure dependency mapping, product level monitoring and other technology resiliency functions.The Software Sr. Engineer role will drive the planning, implementation, roll out and adoption activities and will engage from a platform perspective with development teams on the following: Facilitate requirements definitions, closing gaps in process and procedures, Agile story acceptance and refinement, UAT testing and validation; and contribute to design activities and decisions. The role will also involve hands on development activities around resiliency gap closure, automation and determine the appropriate technical solutions then chart the best course of action to close out the open issues.The role will require a balanced mix of technical skills (automation, infrastructure, scripting, etc.), resiliency gap identification/remediation, coordination across multiple teams, prioritization of work, oversight of execution, regular and detailed reporting to stakeholders and escalating when necessary. The selected individual will frequently interact with members of the EFT Resiliency team, app managers, architects and infrastructure/platform managers, as well as the Technology Continuity & Resiliency (TCR), IT Disaster Recovery Management (ITDRM) and Enterprise Resiliency teams on occasion.The position will focus the 'Stability' and 'Speed' [of recovery] components of Wells Fargo Technology's 6-S strategy and helping to increase the resiliency of the EFT applications and platforms. Primary outcomes: identification of resiliency gaps, remediation initiatives, risk reduction and increasing resiliency maturity over time.Specific accountabilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Lead discovery of end to end assessment of resiliency gaps and automation opportunities to build a robust pipeline of high value scalable solutions.
  • Partner with CIO Application Development teams to close resiliency gaps and/or personally develop end to end scalable solutions, adopting DevOps practices
  • Identify and mitigate existing business risks associated with solution architecture
  • Develop solutions to meet and measure High Availability/Sustained Resiliency targets
  • Deliver automation projects, including automated failover, to ensure project milestones are achieved in a timely manner
  • Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure automation projects are optimized for efficient implementations, providing ongoing status
  • Work in a collaborative nature adopting Agile practices
  • Provide input into resiliency dashboards showing compliance, availability, etc.
  • Central point of contact for all resiliency matters
  • Ensuring proper engagement of the right domain architects, app managers and other SME's to discuss and close resiliency gaps
  • Self-identify resiliency issues to the EFT Resiliency team

    • 7+ years of software engineering experience
    • 7+ years of development and implementation experience with applications, databases, or a combination of both
    • 5+ years of experience delivering complex enterprise wide information technology solutions
    • 7+ years of platform engineering experience
    • 7+ years of automation experience
    • 5 + years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principlesDesired Qualifications
      • An industry-standard technology certification
      • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
      • Strong experience from a resiliency design perspective in one or more of the following areas: Technology & Business Continuity Plan and Disaster Recovery, Cyber resiliency, Data Corruption, Cloud Resiliency, and Data Center resiliency procedures/solutions
      • Ability to identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls
      • Ability to track and monitor project progress, identify project and process gaps, recommend controls and communicate progress to business leaders
      • Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level
      • Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
      • Ability to present to senior level executives
      • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
      • 3+ years of experience with secure DevOps and deployment automation to cloud environments
      • 3+ years of experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Ansible, Terraform or CloudFormationOther Desired Qualifications
        • Ability to understand the resiliency gaps associated with applications/platforms and business processes and controls, and contribute to the successful remediation/closure of those gaps
        • Experience with formally-tracked issues and corrective actions
        • Understanding of process and technology risks
        • Execution-focused, able to drive closure of open risk items in a systematic and expedient fashion (undeterred by the myriad of challenges and obstacles and reasons why it cannot be done, common in large corporate environments)
        • Knowledge of Wells Fargo's BCP program, policy and procedures, as well as BCP exercises
        • Understanding of recovery time and data-loss tolerance
        • Collaborative, team player who knows how to help coordinate efforts and get things done
        • Experience leading multiple workstreams, application or deliverables
        • Experience with network topologies, diagnosing and fixing technical issues, shared storage technologies, load balancers, etc.
        • Experience with various operating systems including Mainframe, Hadoop, Teradata, Informatica, Unix, Windows, Cloud
        • Experience with software development tools including Java, Python and scripting
        • Observability experience including Splunk, AppDynamics and Grafana
        • CI/CD and automation experience with tools such as Jenkins, Gitlab, SonarCube, Ansible, etc.
        • Experience with executing datacenter resiliency planning and tests, identifying, automating and remediating gaps.
        • Experience working with agile development methodology and adopting DevOps practices
        • Strong problem solving, communication and analytical skills
        • Focus on automating manual, repetitive and tactical tasks that take manual effort to operate a platform
        • Proven ability to take complex business and technology problems and bring teams to consensus through collaborative architecture and design.
        • The ideal candidate should have experience working within large Financial Services companies and across a variety of platforms/technologies.
