Lifespace Communities would like to introduce the opportunity to become a Corporate Director of Memory Support and Resident Engagement for the Lifespace home office serving all of the Lifespace communities.

The Director of Memory Support and Resident Engagement serves as the thought leader and subject matter expert for planning and successfully executing innovative programming for wellness and life enrichment activities in our health centers(skilled nursing), assisted living and memory care programs. This position creates evidence-based programs that incorporate and achieve the dimensions of sensory, social, emotional, spiritual, intellectual, and physical health and wellness critical to the successful aging experience of our residents and in particular those who are experiencing memory loss and dementia This position is responsible for enriching the life of each resident by providing resources, education and support to our lifestyles, social services, assisted living and memory care team members at Lifespace.

This position monitors and intervenes as required to ensure communities are compliant with state and federal regulations, as well as company and professional best practices related to therapeutic recreation and memory care. Works collaboratively with the community, regional and home office leadership teams regarding strategic planning and execution of life enrichment and memory care initiatives that support our organizational goals and objectives.

A few other details about the role:

Provide oversight for the design of person-centered life enrichment and engagement programs that are appropriate in optimizing resident participation based on resident interests and abilities.

Train and oversee health center, assisted living and memory care lifestyle team members and programming directors working with community team members to perform thorough lifestyle and memory care assessments on all new residents upon admission to the community.

Develop innovative programming strategies that proactively focus on resident strengths and retaining abilities.

Set innovative standards for lifestyle and memory care to ensure that programming platforms are not only effective, evidence-based and current, but differentiate Lifespace Communities from our competition within the industry. This encompasses wellness components including physical activity, intellectual stimulation, emotional support, spiritual experience, social support, and vocational activity.

Continuously educate and support team members, residents, and family members on our socially-based philosophy regarding the rationale for, and benefits of life enrichment and resident engagement.

Ensure resident satisfaction levels are achieved through quality programming, hospitality services and initiatives.

Assist the ED and administrators to ensure that lifestyles team members are appropriately selected, trained, mentored and supported.

Design, plan and ensure consistent implementation of programming standards, policies and programs that positively impact the delivery of service to our residents.

Solicit resident, family and team member feedback with regard to programming standards, practices and processes.

Serve as our home office leadership resource for all lifestyles and memory care related initiatives for our licensed care venues.

Create and deliver on-going training to community team members related to standards, policies and programs. Once implemented ensure programming standards are executed effectively and consistently

Collaborate with the community lifestyles directors and other disciplines including culture and culinary to coordinate and market community-wide resident functions including holiday and anniversary celebrations.

Develop and operate departmental budget within annual budgetary guidelines which includes but is not limited to labor, operations, inventory, revenue and capital.

Responsible for department policy development and monitoring for compliance with defined policies.

Participate in our Living Lifespace and Masterpiece Living programs including resident and team member engagement, customer relations, and team member recognition and retention.

Provide leadership and participate in annual strategic planning and Comprehensive Process Reviews (CPRs) related to lifestyles and programming in our licensed health care venues. Implement, evaluate and report on progress of plans.

Assist with survey management.

Comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, rules, and regulations; maintains knowledge of and follows all company policies and procedures.

Obtain knowledge and demonstrate the principles of Living Lifespace , person directed care and successful aging philosophies and their inherent core values of commitment, respect, compassion, dedication, team work and quality. Team member will support, actively participate and act in accordance with the principles of the Living Lifespace service culture and be familiar with and fluent in the language and service pillars of Living Lifespace.

And here’s what you need to apply:

Position requires extensive outside travel. Up to 50% travel will be required as needed to work on-site with our communities and home office to ensure programs are designed and implemented to meet Lifespace goals and expectations.

During emergencies or natural disasters may be required to be on duty for the duration of the disaster.

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred.

Five to seven years of progressive experience leading multi-site, multi-state. programming efforts for life enrichment and memory care services in skilled nursing, and assisted living.

Experience in gerontology, recreational therapy, healthcare, senior living and dementia care required.

Must have proven leadership experience and ability to manage and inspire team members.

Certifications as required by state regulations (Industry certifications may include NCCAP, NCCDP, CADDCT or CTRS).

Ensure resident engagement and satisfaction levels are achieved through quality programming and hospitality services and initiatives.

Experience leading a team is required.

Possess a genuine appreciation of the aging adult population.

Knowledgeable of current and innovative evidence-based wellness theories and practices related to aging and Alzheimer’s disease/dementia.

Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement person-centered and socially based events, including individual and group activities.

Knowledgeable of computer functions for computerized activity programs and electronic health records.

Ability to problem solve and adapt to changes.

Knowledgeable of individual and group behavior.

Adeptness to listen and understand information presented by residents, team members, and leadership team members in the communities and home office.

Ability to read, write and speak English sufficient to perform job duties and to interact and communicate with residents, vendors and team members.
