The Director, Solution Delivery Architect will be a leader for solutions that support one or more business functions.

Organization

The Director, Solution Delivery Architect will lead technical resources, either formally or informally, while being responsible for the domain architecture, design, delivery, and support of technology solutions for one or more business functions. The Director, Solution Delivery Architect will effectively communicate and interact with business partners, PMO, other technology team members and report directly to the AVP, Solutions Delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborates with business partners to understand business needs and establish a technical vision for the application set supporting their business partners.

Provide technical leadership to the team, either formally or informally, in support of their application set. Technical resources may include contractors, consultants, or full-time employees.

Develops and executes technical roadmaps to modernize, enhance, and support the application set of their business partners.

Serves as the technical lead on large projects architecting/designing components such as user interfaces, middleware, data integration and services.

Assures solutions are fit for purpose and aligned with the organization’s reference architecture.

Supports and promotes technical consistency by following Enterprise Architecture’s guiding principles.

Researches current and emerging technology, engaging with other architects and Enterprise Architecture to innovate in a risk appropriate manner to accelerate corporate growth.

Participates in F&G’s architecture review board (ARB) sessions and presents solution designs to the ARB for approval.

Actively monitors the application set to ensure it is performing as expected, addressing issues as required.

Manages technical builds ensuring quality, timeliness, adherence to business requirements and budget.

Communicates all technical decisions, issues and risks to Program Leadership and manages technical dependencies within or external to the program.

Performs design reviews to ensure all new solutions brought into the application set align to technology guiding principles and the technology ecosystem.

Exhibits ownership of technical deliverables from external resources, providing review of deliverables and actively manages an effective feedback cycle.

Supports IT leadership in financial planning and timing of solution delivery.

Leads with a data centric perspective, demonstrating a solid understanding of common data management practices.

Experience and Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Management, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field.

10+ years of application development domain experience (architecture, design, development).

5+ years architecting, designing, and integration of large complex solutions.

5+ years of experience leading teams (formally or informally).

Experience with annuity/life insurance systems for distribution management & compensation, new business case management, underwriting, policy administration, and claims.

Skills and Abilities Requirements

Strong leadership skills to lead teams with a mix of internal and external resources and with a mix of formal reporting relationships (dotted line and solid line).

Excellent verbal and written communication and conflict resolution skills.

Excellent object-oriented programming (C# / Java), secure coding, and analytical skills.

Self-starter who can develop policies, procedures and protocol.

Ability to weigh and effectively communicate different options and associated risks/benefits in order to come up with best recommendations and solutions.

Strong knowledge of API concepts, and working knowledge of one or more API integration platforms

Understanding of secure system design principles, patterns, and practices.

Preferred Requirements, Skills and Abilities

MBA or Master of Computer Science or related field.

Experience with life/annuity company operations.

Experience with a cloud or hybrid platforms such as Azure and AWS.

Visionary and change agent to provide compelling future state and overcome hurdles to change.

Strong ability to solve problems; Logical thinker.

Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.

Ability to form strong partnerships with third-party vendors to design effective technical solutions that meet F&G's strategic and compliance objectives.

Team player who is comfortable working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Ability to translate complex business requirements into detailed functional and/or technical specifications.

Strong SQL writing and tuning skills.

Strong capabilities in MS Office, specifically advanced spreadsheet usage.

Ability to effectively operate in support of a complex ecosystem of technology platforms managed by internal resources and vendor partners.

Experience with electronic order entry platforms such as AnnuityNet, AFFIRM and FireLight.

Experience with DTCC Insurance & Retirement Services (I&RS) integrations.
