GENERAL STATEMENT OF POSITION Under general supervision, the Assisted Living Manager directly manages theAssisted Living care & service team while identifying and monitoring theneeds of residents in Assisted Living. Carries out supervisory responsibilitiesin accordance with policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities includeinterviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, anddirecting work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining teammembers; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Assists with marketingof the accommodations and services to prospective residents and families anddeveloping and implementing activities and support programs. The AL Managerwill also develop, monitor, and adjust work schedules to ensure adequatestaffing to meet our service standards and budget, conduct routine rounds ofthe community, participate in initial and ongoing resident assessments to helpidentify needs and changes in condition, assist in the development of theResident Services Plan, participate in regular resident and family meetings,and help conduct new hire training and monthly in-service trainings. As arepresentative and team member of the company, this position is expected topresent oneself in a manner that reflects professionalism and ensures residentsatisfaction. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The following duties are normal for this position. These are not exclusive orall-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Work Duties Oversees the provision of health, emotional, social and spiritual care for residents in the Assisted Living Program; Supervises and monitors the work of CNAs, RAs and other AL personnel, including recruiting, hiring, appraising and planning work, maintaining standards, acting on employee problems, recommending discipline or promotion of staff; writes performance evaluations; Maintains communication with doctors, laboratory, pharmacy, and resident's family concerning resident care; Assesses, reports, and deals with unusual symptoms/emergencies of residents; Coordinates with Health and Wellness Manager for medical advice on AL residents, transfersto the Health Center, and on admissions, care and discharge; Ensures AL department is compliant with applicable RCFE regulations Monitors emergency calls on computer terminal and responds as needed; Monitors andprovides safety instruction for residents such as fire drills, etc.; Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the facility safety program; Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers; Answers telephones and assists visitors; Attends and in-service training workshops, seminars, and meetings as required; Promotes andprotects the rights of each resident; Performs other related essential duties as required. Create an environment for staff that honors, respects and values their opinions and suggestions; demonstrate fair treatment and ethical business practices; support staff development and reward achievement. Qualifications Knowledge Basic nursing theory and practical application as they relate to the medical problems experienced by patients for whom care is provided; Policies andprocedures concerning patient care; Supervisory policies, procedures and techniques; Marketing practices and techniques; Rules, regulations, laws and ordinances as they related to nursing care in a retirement community. Skills Record keeping duties regarding residents Policies, procedures and techniques of effective supervision Strong computer and keyboarding skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly master new applications Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact, in English, with a diverse group of associates, residents and family members Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education –Bachelor’s Degreein a health care, social science, or business discipline, or LicensesVocational or Registered Nurse License. Experience/Training –Minimum 3years of related experience including supervisory experience working in healthcare, senior living, or strong service environment; or any equivalentcombination of education and training which provides the required skills,knowledge and abilities. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations –Current CPR certification, Preference of LVN or RN license; RCFElicense. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The physical activities required to perform the essential functions of theposition. Ability to operate a variety of automated office equipment, including: computer, printer, calculator, copier, etc.; Must be physically able to exert up to ten pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects; Must be ableto briefly lift and/or carry weights of patients in positioning and transporting them as needed Work involves sitting, walking and standing to conduct rounds and supervise team members; Must be ableto lift and/or carry weights of ten to thirty pounds.
