ChildServe is seeking a Building and Grounds Assistant to help ensure facilities at ChildServe are properly maintained, with primary focus on maintenance of lawns and exterior areas.

Schedule
Generally Monday-Friday

What You'll Do

• 
  
  Assist with maintenance of grounds. Trim lawn areas, pull weeds, trim trees/shrubs, collect leaves/sticks/trash, spray for weeds and insects, water grounds, and perform similar duties as instructed.
  
  
  Follow the provided safety instructions at all times. Transport and maintain equipment as instructed.
  
  
  Report problems with equipment or other issues per department guidelines. Complete work logs, reports, and other documentation as assigned.
  
  
  Perform light maintenance as directed by supervisor. Perform other related duties as requested.
  
  
  What You'll Need
  
  
  
  Be able to withstand exposure to the usual childhood diseases and conditions associated with children with disabilities.
  
  
  Lift up to 35 lbs, and frequently stand, walk, bend, lift, squat, and reach.

  Must be able to withstand exposure to both heat and cold, and work both inside and outside.
  
  
• 
  Work on-site with regular and predictable attendance.
  
  
• Ability to communicate in English effectively for understanding, in writing and verbally.
  
• Be able to travel independently to locations within the Des Moines area.
  
• Driver's License required.
  
• High school/ equivalent education desired.
