    Responsibilities
    MercyOne Radiology Clinic is looking for a Senior Physicist to join their team. -The Senior Physicist will work with the Radiation Oncologists and direct other physicists to ensure that radiation therapy treatments are delivered to patients in a safe and accurate manner. - This person will oversee that proper radiation safety procedures are in place and followed by all occupationally exposed workers for their safety and the safety of the general public. This person will also oversee the staff of physicists and dosimetrists. -What You'll Do:
    Determine the necessary specifications for radiotherapy treatment and simulation equipment.Development and implementation of Quality Assurance Program including procedures for acceptance testing, commissioning, and continuing evaluation of radiotherapy and simulation equipment.Calibration and characterization of radiation from therapeutic sources and machines necessary to perform isodose treatment planning, patient dose evaluation, and monitor unit or treatment time calculations.Provision of documentation that radiotherapy and simulation equipment and sources meet accreditation and regulatory compliance requirements.Development/evaluation of radiation safety program, including written procedures for the protection of patients, workers, and the public, as well as protective shielding design and radiation safety surveys.Specification, acceptance testing, data collection, management and supervision of computer systems and associated data bases used for computer isodose planning and calculation of treatment times or monitor units.Implementation and management of dosimetric and beam delivery aspects of external beam and brachytherapy irradiation.Assist dosimetrists in aspects of simulation and preparing computer isodose plans.Review and evaluate computer isodose plans and calculations performed by dosimetrists.Consult with physicians concerning accurate delivery of prescribed radiation dose, determination of patient doses, and treatment options.Review of patient charts on a weekly basis and perform a final review upon completion of treatment.Handle and process packages containing radioactive materials in aspects of receiving, sending, and disposing of radioactive materials.Verify, through proper methods or measurement, the activity or source strength of radioactive materials.We invite you to join MercyOne Des Moines today! -#missioncritical
    Qualifications
    MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
    • Master of Science degree in Medical Physics
    • Board Certification is required.
    • Excellent command of the English language is required. -
