SUMMARY

Our Patient Account Specialists are responsible for the daily monitoring of Accounts Receivable recovery.

The hiring range for this position is $15.87 to $17.46 based on years of relative experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for assigned insurance payer claim follow-up
Denial worklog appeals and adjustments
Take patient phone calls regarding balances
Submit refunds to patients and insurance
Answer insurance questions from other departments
Maintain insurance reference sheets
Assist in typing and updating procedures for the department
Work Clearinghouse rejections
Carry out special projects and duties as assigned



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Excellent communication skills
Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, outlook, word, etc)
Customer Service Skills by phone and in person
Knowledge of daily, monthly, yearly process of the insurance patient account representative position
Knowledge of CPT/ ICD-9/ HCPC with regards to auditing accounts for correct reimbursement
Ability to utilize web tools, fee schedules, and Tiger files to work accounts efficiently and timely

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

High school diploma with four years of accounts receivable/insurance experience - or -
Associates Degree in Business or Insurance with two years of medical billing and/or insurance experience
Possession of the ability to maintain composure when confronted with fast paced and stressful situations
Knowledge of medical records and practice management computer systems (Currently: NextGen)
