Work involvesplanning, coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counselingactivities; and coordinating with other departments to ensure themaximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependencytreatment and rehabilitation. -EssentialFunctionsProvidessubstance abuse counseling and recovery skills training;participates in offender orientation, educational and individualand process counseling groups in compliance with program standards,guidelines, policies, and procedures.Interviews,screens, and evaluates offenders for potential programparticipation.Provides a comprehensiveevaluation from a battery of valid measurement tools to assess therecovery needs and the re-offense risk ofoffenders.Participates in the IndividualTreatment Plan based on the severity and characteristics of theoffender as determined by the comprehensive assessment, review ofcollateral information, and the Clinicalinterview.Maintains offender records andother records regarding services provided to include workloadstatistics; and compiles data and submits reports and relateddocumentation as appropriate.Providesliaison to participants of training programs, workshops, andseminars.Implements follow-up and aftercare plans for offenders that participate in the program prior totheir release; and disseminates information on community resourcesfor offender placement in follow-uptreatment.At the conclusion of theprogram, an Individual Progress Summary will be developed for eachoffender on caseload to reflect the evaluation results togetherwith comments about the offender's level of participation andquality of completion in theprograms.Submit copy of the IndividualProgress Summary to the Parole Division to be included in theParole Case Summary. -It isexpected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assignedwithin his/her capabilities as determined by management. Education and ExperienceRequirements Graduation from an accredited senior high schoolor equivalent orGED. - Must have a current letter of registration as aCounselor Intern (LCDC-I) from the Texas Department of State HealthServices (DSHS) or current valid certification as a CertifiedCriminal Justice Professional Applicant Status (CCJP-A) as approvedby the Texas Certification Board of AddictionProfessionals. Selected applicants must obtain a LicensedChemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) license or a CertifiedCriminal Justice Professional (CCJP) certification within five (5)years from the date of their registration as a Counselor Intern orCCJP-A. Must sign a Credential Contingency Agreementthat will remain in effect only until the initially establishedexpiration date. Failure to comply with this contingency statementwill result in separation from employment. Credential ContingencyAgreements will not be extended or renewed as a result of anemployee's separation from employment or acceptance of anotherposition. - - Valid driver license in the state of Texas withan acceptable driving record required, unless waived bymanagement.Post HireRequirementsMust successfully completeannual in-service training requirements and pass an annualbackground check, both of which must be approved by TexasDepartment of Criminal Justice. - #ZR#Talent
