Press Operator IGannett Publishing Services Des Moines, IA The Press Operator III position is assigned to learn & perform printing related tasks that include: Newsprint reel set-up & operation; newsprint staging; roll preparation; plate processing; placing printing plates; basic ink setting; equipment maintenance; and other duties as assigned.Objectives:Work as a team to achieve on-time press performance and quality standardsWork as a team to achieve waste goalsWork as a team to make safety in our operation a top priorityWorks as part of a press crew to coordinate press & plate operations during an assigned shiftRequirements:Experience in web offset printing is desirable, although mechanical/production experience of any kind may be helpfulCandidates should have the ability to adapt to change, prioritize work, handle multiple tasks, remain flexible and interact with people while demonstrating patienceYou must be able to lift/carry up to 100 pounds and push/pull up to 2000 pounds (rolls of paper)A press operator spends most working hours on his/her feet and is required to climb stairs on the six-level press structureOperators engaged in press maintenance and some cleaning activities will be required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawlThis position is full-time, which includes nights, weekends, and holidaysMust be reliable, report to scheduled shifts on-time and ready to begin workColor vision is requiredEducation:High school diploma or GED equivalentRelated Experience:Previous machine operation or maintenance experience preferredGannett Co., Inc. is a proud equal opportunity employer committed to building and maintaining a diverse workforce.
