Who is our Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner?! Our PMHNP is performs physical examinations, performs or orders diagnostic tests, establishes diagnoses, prescribes medications, instructs patient and family members about medical conditions and treatment. Agree to adhere to all provisions and requirements of Compliance Plan, Ethics policy and Standards of Behavior. to, diagnosis, treatment and coordination of care, preventative care and health maintenance to the patient. Collaborate with Physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure patient healthcare needs are met.

REQUIRMENTS:

Education and/or Experience

  • Masters Degree in Nursing from an accredited school/college of Advanced Registered Nursing Practice
  • Must hold a state and federal DEA certificate in order to prescribe medications
    • Five (5) years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse in a related healthcare setting
    • Previous experience in Behavioral Health preferred.
    • Previous experience in rural healthcare setting preferred.
      Certificates, Licensure, Registrations
      • Currently licensed as an Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the State of Iowa
      • Basic Life Support (BLS)

        Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
        • Demonstrated Leadership skills
        • Knowledge of healthcare policy and societal factors affecting the delivery of healthcare preferred
        • Knowledge of fiscal analysis, database management and informatics preferred

          DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
          • Utilizes advanced nursing processes for the performance of patient care to assess, plan, intervene, implement, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes.
          • Evaluate the processes and outcomes of patient care through participation in quality improvement efforts to enhance the delivery of excellent, cost effective healthcare.
          • Accountable and responsible for professional development within nurse practitioner role by seeking educational opportunities to advance knowledge and skills in order to ensure safe and up to date practice within specialty area.
          • Follow policy/procedures/regulatory requirements and perform other work assignments.
          • Collaborate with Medical Staff, management and other healthcare providers to coordinate appropriate patient care.
          • Perform emergency treatment as required.
          • Perform and maintain documentation.
          • Communicates effectively.
          • Perform other duties as assigned.
