position!This position focuses on the research, development and
implementation of diagnostics, prognostics, sensors and associated
analytics for final process control element systems. The role
provides technical leadership in control valve failure analysis,
signal processing, component reliability prediction, sensor
performance modeling and analysis to the global engineering
communities and customers. This is a technical position within the
Research organization of Emerson. The Research group explores and
assesses new technologies for process automation, specifically, but
not limited to, final control elements. Emphasis is on the
ideation, conceptualization, and proof of viability of new and
enhanced process control technology and/or product concepts in
support of organizational business objectives.As a Prognostic and
Sensor Researcher, you will:Work with a team of domain experts to
research and develop a new generation of analytics, including
sensors, to establish final control performance and
health.Collaborate with internal teams and customers to understand
their diagnostic and prognostic needs, develop use cases, generate
processes, and develop overall solution requirements.Design
experiments, building apparatus, assembling and analyzing real
world data to demonstrate fitness for use, adaptability, and
confirm value in the intended application.Support the Device
Design, Software Design, Service, Support and Marketing teams for
new feature/ product launches.Develop content (intellectual
property / patents, methodologies, white papers, articles,
training, etc.) for served industries, peers and internal
audiences.Stay ahead of the latest technology and seek out new
insights with an innovative approach.Who you are:You seek

diverse sources of information to define problems accurately before
moving to solutions. You show a tremendous amount of initiative in
tough situations and are outstanding at spotting and seizing
opportunities.Education / Experience Required:BS in Engineering, or
related STEM fields and 5+ years of related work experienceLegal
Authorization to work in the United States - Sponsorship will not
be provided for this roleEducation / Experience Preferred:Deep
understanding or functional expertise in one or many of the
following areas:Final control element operationSensor
technologiesAcousticsMeasurement and instrumentation and experience
with sensors and metrologyAnalog and digital signal
processingMathematics and analyticsStatistical analysisWireless
communicationsA successful candidate will have a strong background
in areas such as valve and instrument diagnostics, asset
reliability, device protocols, and vibration, noise, etc. related
to valves. An enthusiasm for science and technology coupled with an
ability to work in a team environment. A desire for innovation must
