Job Description Refinery Supervisor - Des Moines, IAThis is a
full-time, exempt level position.Under the direction of the Plant
Manager, the Refinery Supervisor is the leader responsible for the
safety, regulatory compliance, operation, colleague development and
leadership, and performance of the Des Moines Refinery.
This position leads a team of salaried and hourly colleagues. The
Supervisor is responsible to lead directly and through others by
providing direction, leadership, motivation, communication,
training, coaching and discipline as needed and within site
guidelines for all colleagues in their area.
It is critical for the sites success that the Supervisor can
successfully collaborate with peers on site and beyond to deliver
safe results.The site operates 365 days a year, and this position
has accountability to support the site across all shifts.Job
DutiesAs a member of the Site Leadership team, the Refinery
Supervisor is responsible to play an active role in, and coach
others in programs including human safety, feed & food safety,
quality, environmental standards, Performance Excellence (CI).
They are responsible to ensure their department is supporting the
goals of the Complex and other individual departments. Leads the
Operation of the Plant to maintain personnel and process
safety:Maintains an environment in which personal safety is the top
priorityEnsures the team works safe and the department maintains
compliance of all health and safety regulationsEnsures the
operation of the site is carried out with all regulatory permits,
laws & regulations and best practicesAligns department goals with
complex goals and communicates the direction and priorities to the
department leveraging a structured management system.Coordinates
operation of the plant to insure adherence to established product,
environmental, safety, housekeeping & quality guidelines set by the
companyDemonstrates ADM Core Values in decision making and
actions.Collaborates with work groups across the organization to
develop a strategic vision for the department that is put into
action through the department deployment plan.Supports Quality and
the Food Safety Management Systems, may be a member of the Food
Safety TeamActs as a key stakeholder to the plant leadership
team.Models the way of the Performance Excellence Journey:Leads and
Coaches the team to leverage continuous improvement tools to
achieve department and plant KPI's.Conducts Daily Review and
Response and works closely with the Plant Manager and steering team
to adjust and adapt and to escalate situations that ariseEnsures
that deviations from KPIs and incidents are driven to Root Cause
elimination by teamDemonstrate commitment to improving safety,
processes and efficiency of the plant by delivering the department
deployment plan in both 'what' (metrics) and 'how' (means).Work in
collaboration with Centers of Excellence to improve technology and
reliability of the operations.Is an Effective
Communicator:Demonstrate strong communication skills in both face
to face and written communication.Interprets and ensures consistent
application of organizational policies and proceduresPerforms
Colleague Performance Reviews and meets with Colleagues on a
regular basis to review goals and individual development
plansCollaborates with HR to manage performance of department
ColleaguesTakes on additional roles and responsibilities to
continually develop self-and/or other teamsJob Requirements:Prior
experience leading / supervising people.Bachelor's degree in
Engineering (or equivalent experience) and 7 years of supervisory
experience preferred.Demonstrated self-starter and able to
self-monitor with minimal oversight.Results driven to provide
support to achieve the goals established by leadership.The ability
to provide motivation to the direct reports and demonstrate
leadership qualities to all plant personnel.Demonstrated
decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.Excellent
organization skills and the ability to manage multiple
tasks.Computer skills and capability with Microsoft
ProductsApplicant must be able to work in all types of climates
both inside and out including extreme hot and cold temperatures,
noisy environments, heights, dusty environments, all of which
require use of Personal Protective Equipment.Ability to climb
stairs, access ladders, catwalks and elevated working platforms
across all hours of shift working time. Job also requires some
lifting, sit and stand for long periods of time, work with heights,
bending, kneeling and respirator qualified.Applicants must be
willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays.Experience
that would be beneficial, but not required: experience in
extraction, grain handling at scale, oilseed processing, or
