Overview:
MercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit Catholic medical
centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and
two specialty hospitals - MercyOne Children's Hospital in Des
Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds
total) - along with more than 20 additional facilities that house
more than 50 primary care pediatric internal medicine and specialty
clinics. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1893 MercyOne Central
Iowa has the longest continually operating hospital in Des Moines
and is also one of the largest employers in the state with more
than 7000 employees and a medical staff of more than 1000
physicians and allied health associates. MercyOne Central Iowa is a
member of MercyOne which was founded in 1998 through a
collaboration between CommonSpirit Health and Trinity Health - two
of the country's foremost not-for-profit Catholic health
organizations. MercyOne has more than 20000 colleagues in Iowa and
surrounding states.
Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARY: -As an integral member of Mercy's Accountable Care
Organization (ACO) department, the ACO Data Analyst ACO II will
complete valuable analytics and datamining that will provide
strategic insights for the organization. - This individual will be
required to maintain a working knowledge of Microsoft SQL and R,
and will be required to develop additional technical skills as
required. - The Data Analyst II will complete analytical projects
individually and in collaboration with other analysts, under the
guidance of the ACO Director of Analytics. - While strong technical
skills are required, this role will also have the opportunity to
use clinical, business, and communication skills in creating and
delivering results to ACO leadership and other key stakeholders.
-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Collaborates with members in and associated
to the ACO data team to provide strategic data insights, and
analytic guidance for the organization.Mines the ACO datasets to
identify competitive insights and strategic opportunities related
to the triple aim (Quality, Cost, Experience).Completes modeling
and analytics on a variety of datasets to provide insights that
answer important strategic questions for the ACO. Creates
professional reports for ACO leadership, as well as other ad hoc
documents and presentations.Learns and utilizes the ACO proprietary
data platform, and develops expertise that can be shared with other
users in the organization.Identifies and implements opportunities
for new analytic practices that are innovative and provide
strategic or efficiency gains.Identifies and compiles external data
sources as necessary to support ACO needs. Maintains positive
communication between the department, the organization, and
external public. Participates in professional development
activities to enhance knowledge of healthcare market trends and
analytics. Maintains confidentiality of information obtained from
database and hospital sources, and abides by organizational
compliance guidelines.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree
in Health Information Management, Statistics, Mathematics,
Analytics or Engineering required; Master's preferred.Two years
health care or data analytics experience, required.Excellent
personal computer experience: word processing, spreadsheet,
database and statistical software required. Professional experience
with creating reports required, with working knowledge of Tableau
preferred.Formal education and working knowledge of SQL and R,
required.Project management experience desired.
